Virtuosity and musicality combined with visionary genius. – As 2022 prize winner of the prestigious German OPUS Klassik Award in the category “Concerto Recording of the Year” for his CD “Leipzig 1723” South African recorder player Stefan Temmingh has left all the recorder clichés behind him long ago. With every project he breaks new ground, enlarges the repertoire, raises the bar and creates new traditions for his instrument.

His expressivity, his powerful playing and vivid stage presence have placed him in the top league of recorder players, bringing him standing ovations worldwide. He performs internationally with his own baroque ensemble or with orchestras which he often conducts from the soloist desk.

For his CD projects Stefan Temmingh has received some of the internationally most renowned distinctions, for example the OPUS Klassik and the ECHO Klassik Awards, the International Classical Music Award, the “Editor’s Choice” of Gramophone Magazin as well as the “Diapason d’or”.
