KINBRAE

KINBRAE

Kinbrae is the musical project of twin brothers Andy & Mike Truscott, based in Edinburgh and Fife, Scotland. Kinbrae play a mixture of brass, electronics, percussion and musique concrete to create a uniquely experimental yet accessible form of ambient, classical and electronic music.

Their albums include Tidal Patterns,  inspired by Andy’s time living on the remote Isle of Coll;  Landforms explored the River Tay and the brothers relationship to it growing up on it’s banks in a village near Dundee. In 2019 Andy was awarded a prestigious Jerwood Bursary to explore modular synthesis and the duo also received Help Musicians UK funding to collaborate with Scottish artist and writer Clare Archibald on a new site specific album inspired by the abandoned Charles Jencks Fife Earth Project in Fife. Kinbrae have received significant airplay on BBC shows such as Mary Anne Hobbs’ ‘Recommends’ on BBC Radio 6, Elizabeth Alker’s BBC Radio 3 ‘Unclassified’ and Stephen McCauley’s BBC Ulster/Foyle “Soundscapes’ show, being named as some of the most exciting composers working in the field of contemporary classical and electronic music today alongside artists such as Max Richter, Nils Frahm and others.
